There’s a reason you’ve found yourself Googling things like ‘why do I feel stuck in life, why do I feel lost in my career, or why do I feel unfulfilled even when everything is good?’
Because at some point, most of us hit a moment where life is moving forward… but we don’t feel like we are.
And what’s confusing is that sometimes, nothing is technically wrong. On paper, things might even look quite good. But internally, something feels blocked, heavy, unclear, or just… sh*t.
So what’s actually going on?
One of the biggest misconceptions in personal development is that lack of momentum towards your goals equals laziness, confusion, or lack of motivation.
In reality, it’s often something much more highbrow than that.
It can be your internal system trying to keep you safe.
Because the truth is, the things we want in life don’t just represent external change. They represent identity change. And identity change feels threatening to a nervous system that is wired for familiarity.
So even something positive, more money, a better relationship, a different career, a bigger life, it can still trigger resistance.
Mind-blowing I know!
But when it comes to going after what you want, there is often a part of you that doesn't feel safe having it.
When that safety mechanism kicks in, it usually shows up in one of two ways.
1. The “manic drive” version
This is the over-functioning, high-achieving, relentless energy.
You push. You strive. You achieve. You make it happen.
And on the surface, it looks incredibly successful.
But underneath it can feel intense, desperate and like you’re constantly trying to prove or outrun something.
And even when you do achieve the thing you wanted, the feeling doesn’t always land in a sustainable way. It fades quickly, because it was never really anchored in safety in the first place.
It was anchored in validation.
2. The “stalling” version
This is the other end of the spectrum.
You know what you want. You can articulate it. You might even have a plan.
But something just won’t move.
You overthink. You delay. You second-guess. You find very rational reasons why now isn’t quite the right time.
And it all feels completely justified.
But underneath it, there’s usually the hidden truth that some part of you doesn’t feel safe to fully step into it yet.
I’ve seen both of these patterns in my own life.
There were periods in my career where things moved very quickly. I would decide I wanted something and I would go after it relentlessly.
I changed jobs every 12–18 months if I felt I’d outgrown a role. I moved from retail into wholesale with no experience because I decided that’s where I was going next. And when I decided I wanted to travel more, I ended up in a role that had me flying to places like Texas within weeks of starting.
From the outside, it looked like confidence. Momentum. Clarity.
But internally, it didn’t always feel that way.
There was often huge anxiety underneath it. A sense of needing to prove myself. A fear that if I stopped pushing, everything might fall apart.
And interestingly, even when I achieved what I wanted, the emotional satisfaction was often short-lived. It moved on quickly to the next goal.
Because the underlying driver wasn’t aligned self-worth, it was validation-seeking.
This is why so many people feel confused when they say things like:
Why do I feel meh even when life is good?
Why do I feel like I’m behind in life?
Why do I feel unfulfilled in my job?
Why do I feel lost in my career?
Because feeling stuck isn’t always about lack of action.
Sometimes it’s about internal safety.
And until that is addressed, strategy alone doesn’t tend to shift much.
One of the simplest ways to start seeing your internal resistance patterns is through affirmations, but not used in the traditional way.
When we are falling asleep or just waking up, the brain naturally shifts into theta brainwave states. This is a more suggestible, receptive state where the conscious critical mind is less active.
This is why those moments can be incredibly powerful for noticing subconscious resistance.
So when you listen to affirmations in this state, you’re not just “rewiring” your thinking, you’re also revealing your edges.
Here’s how to use it:
Pick affirmations that relate to what you want. Money, relationships, business, confidence — whatever feels most relevant.
Then just listen.
And pay attention not only to what feels good… but what doesn’t.
Because at some point, you’ll likely hear a statement that creates a subtle reaction. A tightening in your body. A flicker of doubt. A “nope, that’s not me” feeling.
That’s the moment to notice.
That’s your system showing you where something doesn’t feel safe.
Instead of trying to override that reaction, the question becomes:
What is this part of me protecting?
What would it mean if this were actually true?
Where have I felt this before?
This is where your roadblocks start to become visible.
Not as problems to fix but as patterns to understand.
If you’re in a season where something feels thick, unclear, or harder than it “should” be, there’s usually something deeper underneath it than simple motivation.
And that’s exactly what my clarity calls are for.
We look at what you want, what’s getting in the way, and what needs to shift so you can move forward without constantly fighting yourself in the process.
And if part of you is unsure what that would even feel like, I’ve shared a behind-the-scenes reel so you can see exactly what the experience is like before you decide anything.
Very normal, very chatty, definitely coffee-fuelled.
